General information about the Gymnasium

VISION

Kaunas “Aušros” Gymnasium is a safe and open, guided by democratic principles, focused on developing interpersonal skills, values and cultural heritage, educating students to be responsible and creative individuals.

 

MISSION

The Gymnasium’s goal is to provide our students with a high-quality, versatile and broad and well-rounded education experience for their lower-secondary and secondary education programmes, by providing the best possible learning environment so that students can achieve a balanced and comprehensive knowledge to develop their values and competencies and learn to respect and uphold traditions, in order to become educated, creative, responsible, virtuous individuals who can fulfil their roles as responsible members of society.

 

VALUES AND PHILOSOPHY

The philosophical basis consists of the core principles of humanism and democracy. The students are educated in a manner that fosters each student’s individuality and their creative traits, forming the student into a harmonious and responsible guardian of our cultural heritage. The Gymnasium’s core values are: honesty, tolerance, collaboration, teamwork, creativity, continuous improvement, competence.

Requests for joining the gymnasium can be sent electronically via Kaunas City Municipality information system http://imokykla.kaunas.lt or visiting the Gymnasium’s office during the week days working hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Applications are accepted from 15 March 2026 and must be submitted electronically via the municipal website: https://imokykla.kaunas.lt. If it is not possible to submit the application through the information system, it may be sent by email to: ausra@ausra.kaunas.lm.lt.

The application may only be completed by parents (guardians).

The gymnasium admits students to grades I–IV (grades 9–12).

There are no entrance examinations.
